Our minds group people based on trivialities: “Us” (people who eat dinner precisely at 7:00 PM) and “Them” (people who consider dinner between 9:00 and 10:00 PM normal). However, the danger begins when this simple grouping converts into a shouting hierarchy:
“We” are good, superior, and know exactly the proper way for society to function. “They” are bad, inferior, and, worse yet, pose a direct threat to our economic and cultural stability.
Racism is built on a lie. It takes a trivial, accidental difference (like skin color, nationality, or the slight accent of someone speaking the language imperfectly) and ties it to the other person’s supposed moral or social “inferiority.” Ultimately, a decision is made based purely on which random spot on the globe chance threw you. It is not ideology. It is mental laziness.

We don’t need a philosophical disagreement about the appropriate level of physical distance to keep during a conversation to ridicule racism. We only need to examine its thought process and its inherent hypocrisy:

The racist doesn’t see a bad driver. Instead, they see a bad driver who belongs to the ‘Other Group.’ Their thought is: “They didn’t just make a mistake.
